R&D Designer - CAD, A global healthcare products leader, Hyderabad

The Designer is responsible for the support of the CAD and Design needs for new and existing products in the Vascular Therapies. The Designer is expected to have the appropriate background and experience in both Computer Aided Design (CAD) and the discipline area of Design. It is expected that the Designer is capable of carrying out the design task with minimal supervision. The Designer may also be responsible for procurement of assemblies and testing of the equipment and prototypes. The Designer will interact with R&D engineers, prototyping vendors, multiple manufacturing locations, Document Control, and the IS department.  Assists R&D engineers in, scheduling work and communicates estimated delivery dates.  The Designer may take a leadership role within the group (lead in area of expertise).

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

• Design medical device products.
• Designs fixtures and tooling for R&D and or manufacturing.
• Responsible for meeting design requirements.
• Gives design reviews as needed to ensure quality of design.
• Executes design tasks in a thorough and timely manner.
• Maintains and follows all relevant engineering standards in the design of parts and systems.
• Maintains Computer Aided Design (CAD) files in accordance with company procedures and standards.
• Process Engineering Change Notices (ECN) as need.
• Responsible for time management and completion of assignments.
  • Provide technical guidance on the CAD systems such as ProE Wildfire & Solidworks.
  • Should be familiar with CAD data management systems such as PDMLink or PDWorks
  • Works with prototyping vendors to create prototypes of the designs
  • Is familiar with Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) principles & tolerance stacks

• 3 – 5 years of Computer Aided Design (CAD) experience.
• Medical device experience a plus
• GD&T & tolerance stack experience a plus
• Injection molding design experience a plus
• Designing fixtures experience a plus
• Automation / machine design experience is a plus.
• Prior experience in a medical technology MNC preferred

 

EDUCATION

 

• Training in drafting/design.
• Two (2) year technical degree or 3 year Diploma or equivalent in related field (Engineering, Drafting, and CAD)
